How the Churchgoers Should Modify Their Attitude
Honestly, the whole Evoltuion vs. Creationism (which is now Intelligent Design) debate is absolutely LUDICROUS. Here's why:
You see, Mr. Charles Darwin found a brilliant THEORY (defn: a SUPPOSITION or a system of ideas intedended to explain something.) about how things in our world change and develop over time. The Galapagos finches were the main inspiration to start really pumping out a theory. Somehow, these finches needed to modify their beak size to eat specific seeds that were on the island. They never had to before, because there was plenty of water and seeds of all sizes for all types of birds and beak sizes. When the drought came, many of the birdies started dying off. Some, however, actually DEVELOPED/CHANGED their beak size over a couple generations. These birds NEEDED to modify their physical features for survival on this island. Thus, Darwin developed the Theory of Evolution. Basically, all living things experience environmental factors that will change the necessity of their makeup. These changes will occur over a many generations. Originally, one or a few of the organisms will form a mutation. However, once this mutation becomes beneficial, it becomes part of the genetic code and is passed on to the offspring. (One finch got a better beak for small seeds and passed it on to its babies because that was the only way they would continue to exist) Change out of NECESSITY. Evolution never states that things will just change, like many of the Churchies say about us "springing" from apes to humans. ONE example: Apes walk really low to the ground, and it became advantageous for us to stand up. The heat in Africa, yes, I said it, AFRICA, beat on our backs as apes and we had to stand up; it decreases the angle of the sun to our surface area and thus makes us cooler. Then we had developments in the mind, such as Homo Habilius, who decided it was a good idea to make a hammer, because you can bust open a nut and eat it. Ahh, brilliance emerging.
Now there is this "new idea" sweeping through the bible belt in America, and it's getting ridiculous, if I do say so myself. You see, people that are religious will never stray from the idea that there is a God and he is all knowing and all powerful. They feel that evolution challenges the existence of God and his "plan." That's where these people go wrong. Instead of being so defensive, they should realize that evolution is a system (an imperfect theory, mind you; but who's philosophy is impeccable? NO ONE.) that explains the world that we live in. It is an explanation of the SYSTEM THAT EXISTS. It does not say anything about how it was created, or who the fuck created it. So, if you're tapping a bible every night or every time you get into a science class, relax. The Theory of Evolution CAN COINSIDE WITH THE EXISTENCE OF A GOD. Shit, the world got here somehow, didn't it? Why not that be what God did. You know what, you could even adapt it to support your antagonizing theory of Intelligent Design: God made everything (intelligently) and he set up a system for how things would evolve with the factors that change on the Earth, and that system is evolution. Problem solved, stop complaining, and getting in the way of progress. Let them learn, stop being so anti-science or anti-God. They can coexist and SHOULD.
By the way, the Intelligent Design scientists that you see preaching about this bullshit are ALL religious. They found a way to refute some of Darwin's points (obviously, nothing is perfect) and therefore, they're cutting it out completely. (See: Darwin can't get to the Flagellar Motor) It's really convenient that they can do that, and then say that, "God did it, we can't understand." Fucking cop-out bastards.
There's my two cents. Hope you enjoyed. :D
