What the F*ck Do You Expect?!?

In this article , on CNN.com and this other article , through Drudge, journalists are somewhat taken aback by the fact that members of our military in Iraq are taking drugs and getting drunk.

Granted, these articles are really about the accusations that Spc. James P. Barker, Sgt. Paul E. Cortez, Pfc. Jesse V. Spielman and Pfc. Bryan L. Howard raped and murdered a 14 year old girl, then killed her parents. However, I find it puzzling that CNN posts this article under the title, "Stress Sent Soldiers to Drink and Drugs."

Shouldn't this be fucking obvious? America's suburban and city youths are turning to drinking and drugs to deal with the bullshit that our society puts out, are we to assume that our soldiers don't do the same in the hell-hole otherwise known as Iraq?

You're half way across the globe. You are surrounded by people who either love you or hate you, and thousands of which would like to kill you. It's hot, REALLY hot. You have piss poor water, shitty food, and did I mention that you're being bombed or shot at?

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating for these guys if they in fact raped and killed that little girl and her family, but I can definitely see how it could happen. And I don't even think it's due to the drugs or the drinking, but don't add emphasis on that point. It should be well-assumed that these guys are getting smashed when they can...
